Our epic Thunderbird floor pillows are absolutely perfecto! They compliment and beautify any home space and are excellent for humans and pets to lounge on! Sparrows are the inspiration for this traditional design. Upcycled clothes are converted into weaving yarn creating a unique & customized color that varies batch to batch. Each blanket is hand spindled and then hand woven by indigenous artisans in Mexico on old wooden looms. This is almost a lost art and is a skill that has been passed down for generations, with each family adding their own signature style of design within the weave. Each bed is truly unique and magical, not to mention eco friendly! Enjoy!
Our company was started many years ago through the sudden passing of my younger brother. Salvage Maria was born through the beauty from my ashes and over the years the brand has evolved to what it is today! Maria, my Zapoteca mother goes all over Mexico to source our beautiful textiles and build direct partnerships with our artisans. We’ve helped revive some of the traditional hand weaving arts in certain areas that have been slowly fading away.
The yarns used for some of our blankets are made from recycled clothing! Our other fabrics and textiles are globally inspired and we use dead stock and salvaged materials within our designs. Nothing goes to waste; every scrap and remnant is saved for future inspiration! We are located in the heart of Venice, CA where we draw from the cool-boho beach vibes that we merge within our Mexican roots, to create our unique aesthetic.
We handcraft everything in East LA and every piece has a person carefully crafting it from start to finish. We always try to work with locally owned businesses. We strive to be eco friendly with our materials. We believe in supporting our community. We work with several dog rescues and charities near & dear to our hearts. We try to be thoughtful of what we are putting out here and pour lots of Amor & Alma into everything we do! I hope it shows! xo Janeesa Maria
Dry clean only for best results. Hand wash, air dry at your own discretion. With regular wear and tear beds will unweave, pill and fray due to the nature of the sustainable yarn. Do not machine wash or wash inserts-spot clean only.
Please Note: Due to the hand woven nature of each of these blankets there will be slight variations in striping/coloring and natural imperfections. Striping placement will vary bumper to bumper. We use surplus eco-friendly denim. There will be slight variations within the shades of denim and darker denim may color transfer. Handle with care.The weave of this textile may naturally pill/wear over time. As pictured may not be what you receive. No two are alike which is also part of their charm!
